Five Guys was founded in Arlington, Virginia, in 1986, when Jerry and Janie Murrell gave their children some wise advice: "Start a business or go to college." The business option won, and the Murrell family opened their first burger joint called Five Guys (after the five brothers).

To this day, the formula remains simple: burgers and fries, cooked to perfection and served in an impeccable environment. We don't have freezers in our restaurants because we don’t use frozen ingredients. At Five Guys, everything is fresh!

We don’t use timers because in our kitchens, we instinctively know when the food is perfectly prepared and just right—based on its look, smell, and texture. In fact, we prepare all our products daily to ensure maximum freshness. This is how great ingredients deserve to be cooked.

Among the burgers, hot dogs, and other sandwiches, you have 15 free toppings, which means you can choose from 250,000 different combinations! If you had one per day, it would take you 684 years to try them all!

The mix-ins for your milkshakes also give you 1,000 possible combinations, while the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines available in our restaurants will excite you with more than 125 drink mixes you can create.
